PCTB Announced Bad News For Students

The Punjab Textbook Board has announced that it will stop providing free textbooks to 2.5 million students in the next academic year.

The decision was taken because the Punjab government was unable to pay the board dues worth Rs 10 billion. This is a disheartening fact that will have a significant impact on these children’s education.

Every year, students in government schools in Punjab receive free books worth Rs 3,000 per student. The initiative is an important support for families who cannot afford to finance their children’s education costs.

Eliminating free books means two and a half million public school children will suffer next school year, including their parents who are already struggling with the country’s rising cost of living.
