PAF Sent It’s F-16 Jets To Intercept Indian Flight Over Pakistan

As per the report, after the Air Traffic Control (ATC) mix up, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) sent its F-16 aircraft to intercept a Kabul-bound  Indian passenger flight in September.

Spicejet’s Delhi-Kabul flight had been in the air when two F-16 aircraft surrounded the Indian airplane and requested the pilot to decrease its altitude and give them with aircraft details.

The incident, which is informed to have happened on 23rd September, occurred due to uncertainty created at ATC’s end. The SpiceJet flight with 120 passengers overseas had taken to the air from Delhi to Kabul.

Since every flight has its specific code, SpiceJet’s plane’s code was ‘SG.’ The ATC officials misunderstood it with ‘IA,’ which is code for Indian Air Force (IAF) jets. The air traffic control quickly informed about an approaching flight with ‘IA’ code, reminding PAF to answer.

At the time when Pakistani F-16s were flying around their flight, the passengers were told to shut the windows and remain silent,” one of the passengers was repeatedly saying.

As per the report by Times of India, Pakistan fighter jets guarded the Indian flight till it entered Kabul airspace after the uncertainty was resolved. Pakistani authorities, contrarily, have neither confirmed nor rejected the whole scenario so far.

Taking into account due to high confusion between Pakistan and India, the country has shut down three of its air routes for Indian carriers, detaching direct flights to the US, Europe, and the Middle East.
