New UAE Regulations Demand Compliance from Domestic Worker Agencies

UAE authorities held a meeting with domestic worker recruitment agencies to emphasize the importance of adhering to the latest regulations. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) organized this gathering at its Dubai headquarters, with over 90 stakeholders in attendance, including agency owners, managers, and representatives.

One of the focal points of the meeting centered on the necessity for agencies to provide comprehensive training to their workers and ensure strict compliance with the most recent directives. Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Domestic Worker Affairs at MoHRE, emphasized the ministry’s dedication to maintaining open lines of communication with these agencies.

Al Nuaimi commended the agencies for their continuous efforts to enhance recruitment processes and support Emirati professionals. He also issued a stern warning, indicating that strict measures would be taken against any agency found violating the rules, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of all involved parties.

The public has been cautioned to remain vigilant against illegal recruitment agencies and deceptive social media advertisements. Al Nuaimi recommended that individuals exclusively engage MoHRE-licensed agencies for reliable services, and he noted that agency details can be found on the ministry’s official website and social media platforms.

Earlier this year, the UAE mandated that employers register their domestic workers in the country’s Wage Protection System (WPS). The WPS is an electronic salary transfer system that allows organizations to disburse salaries through banks, currency exchanges, and authorized financial establishments. UAE authorities utilize this system to ensure timely payment of salaries to employees and workers.
