New Opportunities for Private Schools as Sindh Ban is Lifted

This decision came about following a series of meetings led by the interim chief minister, with a primary focus on education policies and structural enhancements for educational establishments within the province.

Rafia Javed, leading the Directorate of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions, issued an official notification in compliance with the directives from the school education & literacy department. The notification outlines specific criteria for the registration of private schools.

Noteworthy requirements include a minimum plot area of 200 yards for pre-primary and elementary schools in suburban areas, while upmarket areas necessitate 400 yards. For secondary or O-level schools, a minimum plot area of 400 yards is required, rising to 600 yards in upmarket areas, along with specific room specifications.

Furthermore, the notification underscores the significance of facilities such as well-equipped science and computer laboratories, libraries, CCTV surveillance, hygienic restrooms, and perimeter walls. These measures are designed to uphold the quality and safety of education in private schools.

In a separate notification, the Sindh School Education & Literacy Department has granted increased authority to the special secretary (schools) for handling various matters concerning primary and secondary schools. This authority extends to decisions regarding employee retirements, leaves, inter-departmental transfers, and more, up to the BS-20 level.
