Michael Fawcett, Head of Prince Charles’ Charity, is Temporarily Stepping Down

A former adviser to Prince Charles has temporarily resigned as head of a charity set up by the British heir following newspaper revelations of his ties to a businessman.

The Prince Foundation said President Michael Fawcett agreed to remain on hold pending an internal investigation into the Sunday Times and Mail on Sunday allegations.

Fawcett, a former Charles’ valet who was supposed to be close to Queen Elizabeth II’s heir, is said to have coordinated the work to bestow royal honor and even British citizenship on the businessman.

The Charles Foundation, which helps the unemployed get jobs and start small businesses, said it takes newspaper articles “very seriously”.

“Michael fully supports the ongoing investigation and has confirmed that he will assist the investigation in some way,” he said.

Fawcett, a trusted valet, pressed Charles’s toothpaste onto his toothbrush and helped him put it on.

“I can do without anyone except Michael,” the prince is said to have once said.

In 2003, Fawcett was cleared of financial misconduct charges for selling unwanted real gifts.

In 2018, following a reorganization of charities, Charles appointed him director of the foundation.
