Media Coverage Of Royal UK Has Been Criticized, Former Broadcaster Says ‘Things Should Be Open’

A former broadcaster ridiculed the actual BBC coverage as David Dimbleby believes the media should actively address the talking points.

During his appearance on the BBC’s Hard Talk, David said that staying away from issues of public interest is not the solution. “I don’t like deference. No, I don’t like greetings and bows.”

“I believe in a constitutional democratic monarchy. I think one aspect of that is that the BBC, as a broadcaster, should be able to address the controversies surrounding the monarchy,” he said.

“What nobody knows much – what rights they have to avoid taxes – that nobody knows anything: corporate tax, inheritance tax, and inheritance tax,” the media added.

Balancing the news value of the public interest, David said: “These things have to be open, we are an open society. We should know about them and the BBC is cautious about that.”
