Matthew Jordan Lindner, a Texas man who authorities say threatened a Boston doctor who treats transgender people, was arrested Friday on federal charges.
Suspect Lindner, of Humble, Texas, has been charged with an interstate threat transmission charge. He made his first appearance in a Texas court Friday afternoon and is expected to appear in federal court in Boston later.

Threatening
According to a statement by Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division.
The indictment alleges that Lindner called the National Center for LGBTQIA+ Health Education on 31st August after misinformation about procedures at Boston Children’s Hospital was shared online.
Lindner left a violent message addressed to one of the center’s affiliated doctors, the Justice Department said.
Lindner reportedly said “a group of people” were “on their way to deal with the unidentified victim,” said the victim would “burn,” and said the victim and others in her area had “quite upset us.” ‘ and ‘they signed (their) own tickets,’ according to the federal prosecutor.
The post also contained a sexist slur and accused the victim of “neutering” the children.
Arrested
“Today the FBI arrested Matthew Lindner for allegedly molesting and threatening to kill a doctor at the Fenway Institute simply for caring for gender-nonconforming children. While everyone has the right to express their opinions, they do not have the right to use violence or threaten violence against people who do not share their beliefs,” said Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Counsel for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division.
“No one should have to live in fear of violence because of who they are, what kind of work they do, where they come from or what they believe. Unfortunately, this case is one of many others that illustrate the FBI Boston’s commitment to preventing possible violent incidents motivated by hate and prejudice and to holding the people behind them accountable.”
