Who is Mariam Abdulrab of Atlanta, GA?

Mariam Abdulrab was an Atlanta waitress who was abducted at gunpoint outside her home early Friday morning.

Her body was found a few hours later, a few kilometers away, in another neighborhood.

A witness said he saw Mariam, identified by friends and colleagues, being forced into a van in the Grant Park area around 5 a.m.

When he got home from work, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. An hour later, a second call to 911 reported gunshots nearby.

Shortly before 10 a.m., a witness found Abdulrab’s body.

Her current age is 27 years.

How The Incident Occurred?

A witness called to police was called just after 5 a.m. and said he saw a woman being forced into a van on Burroughs Street near Chosewood Park. He is believed to have returned from work at that time.

After 6 a.m., another call reported a shooting near Lakewood Avenue, but nothing related to that call was found until the body was discovered nearly four hours later.

When a witness saw the woman’s body, Sergeant Chafee said police had organized an investigation in the area. The two stages are almost a kilometer and a half apart.

The authorities are in constant contact with the victim’s family.

The case comes just three weeks after Katie Janness, another waitress who was killed while walking her dog in Piedmont Park late at night.

There is currently no indication of a link between the two cases.

Who Are The Suspects To Be Arrested?

Police quickly identified someone interested in the shooting and hours later spotted her 2013 Chevrolet Equinox just south of Atlanta.

During a Griffin chase, Demarcus Brinkley, 27, collided with a Buick, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Brinkley and the Buick driver were both airlifted to nearby hospitals, but there was no news of their condition.

State Patrol said Brinkley would be detained for traffic violations once he was released from hospital.

Atlanta Police have not laid any charges related to Abdulrab’s kidnapping and murder.

What Police Have Investigated Up Till Now?

Atlanta Police spokesperson, Atlanta Deputy Police Chief Charles Hampton Jr., told reporters: “These are two different incidents.”

That year there were 92 murders in Atlanta, 15 of the victims were women.

Abdulrab worked at two bars in Atlanta and both were recovering from his death. Midtown’s Revery VR bar, where she had worked the morning of her death, announced that it would be closed for the weekend, as did Sister Louisa’s Living Room Church and the Ping Pong Emporium.

Grant Henry, the owner of the Church Bar, told AJC that Abdulrab “was a living gem. He lit up.”
