The makeup artist, 33, was found dead on 31st October and her family confirmed the tragic news in a public obituary.
Friends took to social media to mourn Missouri-born artist Gabriella Acarino after her sudden death, calling her “irreplaceable.”
In a moving tribute to Laney, Alaina Chantal Parkhurst’s real name, she wrote: “Laney was more than a best friend. She was my sister and my soul mate. She was a real, sensitive, talented, and beautiful soul.”

Chantal, a well-known makeup artist, and special effects mask designer, found herself in the spotlight after entering SyFy Network’s “Face Off” contest for the fifth time in 2013. He voluntarily retired from the reality show about special effects makeup artists and placed fifth.
Chantal worked with several big stars after appearing on the show, including Bella Thorne and Marilyn Manson. He even created “Head FX Makeup” for rapper Lil Nas X for his controversial 2021 music video “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” which won Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs.
Makeup artist Gabriella Acarino remembers Chantal as her “sister and soulmate.”
According to her family, after graduating from high school in 2007, Chantal moved from Michigan to Los Angeles to attend Cinema Makeup School, where she was certified to be a special effects makeup artist.
“Alaina fixed everything; Body, mind, and soul in their jobs, no matter how small,” read his obituary.
“Her artistic skills and vision quickly set her apart from other artists in her field and her portfolio is thriving.”
His family gave no further details about his death, other than that it was due to “an accidental drug overdose.”
Six months before her death, Chantal posted a funeral photo of a pink coffin on Instagram.
The Parkhurst family has called for donations to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, highlighting the struggles their daughter has had with mental health throughout her life.
