The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) interim cabinet, headed by Chief Minister (CM) Azam Khan, met on Wednesday to discuss a wide range of issues.

One of the decisions of the tenth cabinet meeting was the approval of a significant increase in the minimum wage for workers. The salary originally approved on June 20 has been increased to Rs 32,000, a move aimed at improving the livelihoods of working people.

In addition, the government has expanded its support for doctors in the Ministry of Civil Protection, giving them grants for medical professionals and aligning their remuneration with that of their counterparts in the Ministry of Health.

Cabinet has also demonstrated its commitment to local governance by first approving certain amendments to the Local Government Act 2023 aimed at improving and streamlining the way local authorities operate.

To improve disaster response capabilities, the cabinet approved the transfer of land from the Ministry of Health to emergency services for the establishment of 1122 rescue station at Adanzai Tehsil in Lower Dir.

An additional grant has been approved for those affected in Miranshah Bazar as part of the ongoing AIP project, which provides support to landowners in North Waziristan. Finally, the cabinet approved a project to support food security and promote the province’s agricultural development.
