Jeff Bezos Becomes The First Richest Man in Modern History Worth $211 Billion

Jeff Bezos, founder of the world’s largest online retailer, Amazon, set a new record by becoming the first richest person in “modern history” with a personal fortune of more than $211 billion.

The 57-year-old business mogul, who recently resigned as Amazon CEO, added $8.4 billion to his net world on Tuesday alone after the company’s shares rose 4.7%.

In January, Tesla founder Elon Musk briefly made it to the top spot on the list of the world’s richest people with a net worth of $210 bln, but Jeff Bezos quickly took the spot back in 2021.

He stayed in second place for the past two weeks as the title of richest person was LVMH boss Bernard Arnault before his incredible performance was pocketed on Tuesday.

As per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos has now further widened the gap between himself and other billionaires.

Bezos ‘most recent fortune came after the Pentagon announced a cloud computing deal with competitor Microsoft Corp. The rally added $8.4 billion to Bezos’ net worth, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

With his net worth topping $211 billion, the gap with his close rival Elon Musk has grown to $30 billion.
