Famous television and film director Jean-Marc Vallée was found dead over the bank holiday weekend in Canada.

As per the New York Post, the multi-award-winning director, best known for “Dallas Buyer’s Club” and the HBO Limited series “Big Little Lies”, passed away on December 26th. Dallas Buyer’s Club was nominated for eight Academy Awards, and Vallée won an Emmy for Best Director for Big Little Lies, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. He also directed the Sharp Objects miniseries starring Amy Adams.

Filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée’s shocking death was the result of a heart attack while he was staying at his riverside cabin outside Quebec City, preparing to receive guests the next day.

Hence, it is believed that he died on December 26th and was found the next morning. Vallée was known as a fitness fanatic and teetotaler, a practitioner of the Wim Hoff fitness method, which is not for the faint of heart. We will update the official cause of death when it is released.

After Deadline was revealed about the filmmaker’s sudden death last night, there was a wave of grief for Vallée, everyone from Big Little Lies and Wild Star Reese Witherspoon to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Sad Day.

His Professional Career

Born on March 9, 1963 in Montreal, Vallée began directing short films and quickly turned to feature films in 1995 with his debut album Black List. His breakthrough came in 2005 with CRAZY, which won four Genie Awards in Canada, including Best Film, Script, and Director of Vallée. After directing The Young Victoria and Cafe de Flore, Vallée took to the skies with the Dallas Buyers Club based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, a Texas electrician diagnosed with AIDS and who now has one month to live.

Woodroof smuggled unapproved alternative drugs and medicines into the United States in ruins to give themselves and others with AIDS a chance to prolong their lives. It was a worthy project that stalled before Vallée interfered. Released in 2013 with McConaughey, Leto, and Jennifer Garner, the film has become a critics favorite. McConaughey and Leto won the Golden Globes.

They repeated those Oscar victories. The film was nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, and Vallée also received an Oscar nomination for Best Editing under his pseudonym, John Mac McMurphy.

This was followed by an adaptation of the memoir Cheryl Strayed Wild with Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. The film was nominated for three Academy Awards.

In 2017 Vallée received the D.G.A. And the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for the limited HBO series, which he also directed, Big Little Lies. He has won eight Emmy Awards, including an Outstanding Limited Series and four Golden Globes, and he directed and produced the 2018 HBO Limited Series Sharp Objects, which was nominated for eight Emmy Awards.
