Italy was considering expanding two-way trade with Pakistan, and now the European country has announced the launch of thousands of visas for residents of the South Asian nation.
In a recent development, Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Ferries announced that his country issued visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis last year and will issue visas to more Pakistanis this year, but declined to give the exact number of visas.
Speaking to a private TV station, the Italian envoy said Italy issued visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis last year.
“He expects the number of visas to increase this year. The Pakistani community in Italy sent €1 billion to Pakistan last year,” he added.
When asked, he replied that Pakistan, a country of 220 million people, is a big market for Italian products.
