HEC HAT Test Schedule, Online Registration, Last Date To Apply 2023

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) schedule for applicants pursuing HEC scholarships and MS/MPhil admissions.

HEC administers this test through the Education Testing Council (ETC) for all HEC scholarships and for admission to the mentioned below disciplines through a consistent and transparent selection process.

HAT Test Categories

The HAT test 2023 is administered in the following 5 categories over the age of 16 or equivalent education and candidates are advised to register accordingly.

HAT Test Eligibility

  • Candidates who have applied online for an MS/MPhil program or HEC scholarships through the electronic portal for the subsequent selection process.
  • Candidates wishing to apply for future scholarship programs including those at HEC-sponsored Pakistan universities.
  • Applicants who wish to gain admission to MS/MPhil programs in public and private universities in Pakistan.

How To Register Online For the HEC HAT Test?

  • To register online, candidates are advised to go to the HEC ETC E-portal.
  • The application is made in two steps.
    1. First, fill out the profile in the “My Profile” section.
    2. Then apply using the “Higher Education Aptitude Test” in the left sidebar of the online portal.
  • Only applications that have been submitted will be taken into consideration for the test. Applications in “Save” or “Incomplete” status will not be processed.
  • The test fee for the HAT is set at PKR 2000/- per candidate. Candidates are required to submit this fee through a variety of payment channels, including 1Link 1bill invoice participating banks, ATMs, internet banking, mobile apps (such as EasyPaisa, JazzCash, UPaisa), and EasyPaisa/JazzCash/UPaisa agents.
  • To initiate the payment process using the 1Link 1bill service, please follow these steps:                                                                                                                     1. Open or sign in to your mobile banking app.
    2. Navigate to the “Bill Payment” or “Payment Services” section.
    3. Choose the “1bill Invoice Payment Services” option.
    4. Enter the consumer number that has been generated by the ETC Portal.
    5. Once you’ve confirmed the payment details, proceed to make the payment.
    6. After completing the payment, return to the ETC dashboard and click on the “Verify Online Payment” option.
  • It’s important to note that the test fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another candidate. Candidates should ensure accurate and timely payment to avoid any complications in the examination process.

HAT Test Last Date 2023

HAT test’s last date to apply for online registration is 17th October 2023.

HEC HAT Test Date

The tentative date for the entry test is 29th October 2023. HEC will announce any changes to the exam date on its official website and on the ETC Portal.

HAT Entry Test Centers

It should be noted that the test will only be carried out in the relevant centers if at least 250 candidates have decided on this center at the time of registration. The test will take place in the following cities:

  • Islamabad
  • Lahore
  • Karachi
  • Bahawalpur
  • Peshawar
  • Quetta
  • Gilgit
  • Muzaffarabad

Please note that HEC will not accept test center change requests after online applications have been submitted.
