How To Celebrate International Women’s Day 2023

International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time in 1911 to pay tribute to the eternal sacrifices of women and to give them the same status and rights in society.

Accordingly, International Women’s Day 2023 is being celebrated worldwide, including Pakistan. This year the international women’s day 2023 theme was titled “An Equal World Is Worth It” while the hashtag #EachforEqual has been trending on twitter and other social networks.

This struggle for women generally requires gender equality in governments, jobs, sports, medicine, wealth, and media reporting.

At the same time, the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women are celebrated worldwide and practical measures are taken to speed up work on gender equality.

International Women’s Day History

Why do we celebrate Women’s Day? In 1908, thousands of women in the clothing factory in the United States protested against low wages, working hours, and gender discrimination. Police constables had charged sticks and stones at all the women that were involved in the protest.

On 28th February 1909, the Social Party of America passed a resolution condemning the tragedy, followed by the first ‘Women’s Day’ celebration on February 28 in the United States.

On the other hand, “International Women’s Day” was celebrated on 19th March in Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, and Germany.

Millions of women on this day took part in demonstrations against female labor force participation, voting rights, low wages, and gender discrimination.

For the first time in history, in 1911, International Women’s Day celebrations began together on March 8, and for the second time, in 1913, March 8 was set for International Women’s Day.

From that moment to the present day, on March 8th, the world reaffirmed its commitment to equality for women.

Each day of this year is marked by a special title given the plight of women around the world.

This day is not only about slogans or long speeches related to women but also their achievements in the areas of business, economy, culture, and politics.

Final Thoughts On International Women’s Day 2023

We must respect the women around us and help build a society that goes beyond gender discrimination. Today’s world requirement is that men and women should work together to succeed in their lives.

Countries that want to win in the race for development must give women all the rights and privileges they deserve while eliminating gender discrimination to improve women’s performance in every sector of life.

Appointments and hiring across different sectors should be based on performance rather than gender, and the problem of harassment of women must be overcome.

Gender equality is essential for the development of economies and societies.

It is good to know that women in Pakistan are now demonstrating their abilities in all areas of life. Whether it will be like joining the Pakistani army to defend the country or driving a truck or car for a job, there is no area where women’s participation is not encouraged.
