The petitioner’s lawyer took his case to court, saying the Peshawar High Court had previously banned TikTok because some of the videos uploaded to the platform were “immoral and contrary to the teachings of Islam”.

The attorney said his client contacted the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority (PTA) before going to court, but the PTA did nothing about it. The court summoned the parties involved in the proceedings on July 8th.

Man go to Supreme Court and demands TikTok ban

An application was made to the Supreme Court earlier this morning to ban Tiktok. Ali Zeb, a Pakpattan resident, said TikTok encourages crime by allowing people to consume drugs, guns, and uploading videos, while TikTok use in educational institutions leads to bad news for students.

The petitioner said that individuals also recorded attempts such as an attempted suicide to seek opinions on TikTok despite the content violating Pakistan’s Islamic laws.
