GB Govt bans the entry of people until monsoon rains end

In view of the current extreme weather conditions, the Gilgit-Baltistan govt has banned tourists from entering the country indefinitely.

“To ensure the safety of the population, the government has decided to prohibit entry until the end of the monsoon rains,” said an official statement from Astore-Diamer division commissioner Dildar Malik.

Citizens who violate these regulations will be severely punished, the statement said.

In recent days, hundreds of tourists have been stranded on the roads for hours due to major landslides at Babusar Top and in many places along the Karakoram Highway.
