The federal government has raised the prices of cooking oil and ghee sold in grocery stores nationwide. According to the information, the prices of cooking oil and ghee have increased significantly, while a related notice has also been released.

The statement said the price of ghee in Pakistan has increased by Rs 208 per kg, which is now sold in shops at Rs 555 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of cooking oil in Pakistan has increased by 213 rupees per liter, bringing the new tariff to 605 rupees per liter.

In addition, the new prices of these raw materials will apply throughout the territory from June 1, 2022.

It is important to mention that the above prices are for the most expensive oils available in the utility store. However, the price difference with other brands is also significant.

It is important to mention that the prices of other products in the supply stores in Pakistan have also increased. According to the data, the price of various brands of tea rose from Rs 45 to Rs 1,099 per kg, while a 1.5-liter bottle of Rooh Afza rose from Rs 241 to Rs 276.

Higher inflation is expected across the country as the government hiked petroleum product prices as well as electricity tariffs to restore the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lending program, which will directly impact commodity prices and ease further pressure on the already overburdened population.
