Federal Govt Employees Salaries Will Increase in Budget 2022-23

The federal government plans to increase the salaries of its employees by 5-15% in the coming budget 2022-23. If passed, it would be the second pay rise for government employees in four months.

Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in March gave civil servants in grades 1 to 19 a 15 percent bonus to reduce inequality. Subsequently, the new government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced an increase in pensions by a further 10%, raising the monthly pension minimum wage to Rs. 25,000/-.

In this regard, a Treasury official said the government is working on three different options to increase wages by 15%.

Reportedly, salaries of civil servants (grades 1-19) could be increased by a further 5-10% ad hoc allocation in the next budget, while salaries of white-collar workers in grades 20-22 could be increased by 15%. Likewise, the government could potentially increase pensions by 5% to 10% as inflationary pressures mount.
