Dubai Police Crack Down On Noisy Late-Night Bikers And Motorists

Dubai Police have warned cyclists and noisy motorists late at night to take strict measures to disrupt peace in different parts of the city. He launched a campaign to catch lawbreakers with excessive vehicle noise.

The Deputy Chief of Traffic, Dubai Police, Brigadier Jumaa bin Suwaidan, said he would monitor motorists violating speed and noise restrictions after midnight.

Speaking about the increase in such activity, he said most of the complaints were related to noisy cars. Although several awareness campaigns have been conducted, the problem has worsened and continues to disturb people’s peace of mind, he said.

One of the locals, quoted by El Nacional, complained of sleepless nights from noisy motorcyclists, especially after midnight.

Depending on the details, Dubai allows noise levels of 40-50 decibels from 7 am to 5 pm. to 8 p.m. and about 30 to 40 decibels late at night.

Last year, Dubai Police registered 2,361 cases against drivers who modified their vehicles to make noise. In such cases, the police confiscated around 1,079 cars.

The penalty for exceeding the permitted noise level is a fine of AED 2,000 and 12 black points. Those who modify their vehicle to make noise face a fine of approximately AED 1,000, 12 black spots, and their vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.

The Brigadier urged residents to report these individuals on the We Are All Police application or by calling 901.
