Dubai Police Are Warning Influencers Not To Leave Their Cars On The Street

Dubai Police have issued a warning to social media influencers leaving their valuables unattended in public in a bid to gain popularity on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

To highlight the low crime rate in Dubai, some influencers shared videos of them leaving their cars, front doors, phones, and wallets unattended.

However, this behavior was condemned by the head of the Dubai Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Maj. Gen. Jamal Al Jallaf said that leaving homes, cars, and valuables unprotected in public places constituted security neglect and could pose a danger to the public.

A well-known TikToker, Comp Random, garnered more than 1.2 million views for a video of him leaving his valuables unattended for over an hour on Kite Beach in Dubai.

In the video, he expressed confidence that his GoPro, iPhone, and wallet would not be stolen. Noting that he was inspired by a story he’d heard about someone who left a $60,000 purse on a table to reserve it, he joked that Dubai was the only place that did that could do something.

According to Gallup’s 2021 and 2020 Global Law & Order Reports, the UAE is among the top five safest countries for people traveling alone at night.

In February last year, the travel insurance website InsureMyTrip recognized Dubai as one of the safest destinations for women traveling alone.
