To welcome the holy month of Ramadan, on March 5th, the Dubai Municipality will inaugurate the Ramadan Souq on Old Municipality Street in Deira. The event will take place daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until 15th March.

The event includes a mini souk (Arabic market) and a traditional souk. The mini-souk will have 20 stalls, including 15 on Old Municipality Street and 5 for local Emirati initiatives.

Food trucks will serve traditional cuisine throughout the event. The children’s shows start from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Director of Dubai Municipal Department of Architectural Heritage Mansoor Abdulnoor Al Rais said the event showcased traditional preparations for Ramadan in Dubai. He added that the market is similar to the old markets in Dubai that families used to frequent.

According to the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Ramadan in the United Arab Emirates begins on 23rd March, with the first fast lasting more than 13 hours.
