Dubai Implements AI-Powered Monitoring for Taxis, Buses, and Delivery Drivers

Dubai Adopts AI Technology for Enhanced Monitoring of Taxis, Buses, and Delivery Riders

Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) is venturing into the future by integrating artificial intelligence into its operations to oversee its extensive fleet of vehicles and drivers. This innovative move is aimed at enhancing services and bolstering safety for both residents and visitors in the city.

As a subsidiary of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, DTC has harnessed the power of AI within its control center to closely monitor a substantial workforce of 14,500 drivers and an impressive fleet of 7,200 vehicles, encompassing taxis, limousines, school buses, public buses, and motorcycles.

The control center plays a pivotal role in facilitating swift and efficient decision-making, particularly during high-demand events. It aids senior management in coordinating the distribution of taxis to meet surges in demand.

Furthermore, it maintains a vigilant watch over driver behavior and tracks the routes of vehicles, including those utilized by school buses, delivery motorcycles, and limousines.

Ensuring the safety and punctuality of schoolchildren who travel on the buses is of paramount importance to DTC. The organization is deeply committed to the ongoing monitoring of school bus operations, safeguarding the welfare of students during their journeys to and from school.

Additionally, the center actively lends its support to drivers, addressing their needs and continually assessing the daily efficiency of vehicle movements.

Earlier this year, Dubai introduced advanced buses equipped with intelligent features such as surveillance cameras and systems designed to enhance child safety on board. These buses are furnished with GPS tracking and emergency alert systems, thereby providing an additional layer of protection.

In neighboring Abu Dhabi, specialized cameras installed on school buses serve the purpose of identifying and penalizing drivers who fail to stop when the bus’s stop sign is extended, thus ensuring the safety of students during drop-offs.
