Daryll Rowe from Edinburgh, launched a “cynical campaign” to spread the infection to as many men as possible as “revenge” after learning he had the life-threatening disease.

The so-called “vegan hippie” has had unprotected sex with men at home after trying alternative remedies to treat his condition, including ingesting his own urine.

Daryll Rowe has used the popular dating app Grindr to launch a campaign of deliberate attempts to contract HIV.

After trying to infect ten people, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in April 2018.

To further spread the infection, Rowe began buying and handling his own c**doms.

After their encounter, he mocked his victims and even boasted that he was “sick” when another lover discovered a broken condom in the sink.

“He said, ‘You’re going to burn … you’re stupid. I ripped the condom, I got you.”

Lenny added, “I remember thinking how can I be so stupid” before he “felt like his life was over.”

When Was Daryll Rowe Sentenced And Police Investigation Report?

On 18th April 2018, Rowe was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of trying to spread the virus to as many men as possible. This was the first such conviction in Britain.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum sentence of 12 years.

Rowe will not be considered for release until he has served a total of 10 years and 253 days, including time spent in custody, according to Sky News.

The hairdresser had met several of his victims online and Lewes Crown Court in East Sussex had previously heard that he had written provocative statements to his victims.

At the time, Caroline Carberry QC said: “Daryll Rowe was involved in high-risk sexual activity knowing he was highly contagious. Then began a cynical and determined attempt to infect other men with HIV.”

“Unfortunately, for many men he has met, his campaign has been a success.”

Deborah Gold, Chief Executive of the National AIDS Trust, said: “The Rowe case is the first of its kind in the UK and is an exceptionally rare occurrence.”

“Deliberate transmission of HIV is an unfortunate crime that can only be committed by avoiding critical treatment yourself.”
