Illinois has arrested Anna Kochakian and accused her of defacing a memorial to Chicago police officer Ella French, who was killed in a shootout with suspects last year.
Kochakian allegedly tore up a photo of French that was posted at the memorial, wadded it up and dumped it in a trash can on an “L” train platform in Chicago just days after his murder, state police said Wednesday.

Anna Kochakian Arrested in Ella French Murder
Just this week, police obtained an arrest warrant for her for the crime of defacing a police memorial. She was arrested at her home around 10 a.m., authorities said.
“The perpetrator was arrested in handcuffs by Officer Carlos Yáñez Jr., his partner,” Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown tweeted.
“It was a moment of justice for Ella, her family, the Chicago Police Department, and everyone who knew and loved Ella.”
Yanez, 40, survived two gunshot wounds to the head in the shooting that claimed the Frenchman’s life. His injuries could render him permanently disabled.
Two brothers, Monty and Eric Morgan, have been accused of violence.
Monty Morgan is said to have fired officers during a traffic stop on August 7, 2021, fatally hit the 29-year-old Frenchman and injured Yanez. Eric Morgan drove the car.
A third officer returned fire, hitting Monty Morgan in the stomach. He was charged with the first-degree murder of a peace officer and attempted murder. His brother is charged with gun possession and disability.
Kochakian is expected in court for a bond hearing on Thursday. She is charged with defacing a police memorial, a Class 4 felony.
