US Govt opens a new school in Karachi in coop with Sindh Government

The US Govt opens a new school in Karachi in coop with Sindh Government yesterday through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The new state-run Waryo Gabol High School offers students and teachers state-of-the-art classrooms, computer and science labs, a health room, and a library.

The construction of this school is part of the Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), under which USAID is supporting the construction of 106 schools in 10 districts of Sindh.

The Acting Chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy Lesslie Viguerie and the Minister of Education of Sindh, Saeed Ghani, attended the opening ceremony.

“We believe that true and lasting development for both countries and people begins with education,” said Chargé d’affaires Viguerie.

“The United States and Pakistan share this conviction, and we are committed to expanding our educational collaboration from elementary school to college to further this common goal.”

Education Secretary Ghani expressed appreciation for the US government’s support in modernizing education in Sindh through the province’s continued partnership with USAID. USAID has invested US $159.2 million (PKR 25 billion) through SBEP to build schools in Sindh. Acting Consul General Jack Hillmeyer and USAID Sindh, as well as Baluchistan Director James Parys, along with community elders, teachers, students and parents also attended the ceremony.
