The United Arab Emirates (UAE) passport has become the most powerful passport in the world according to the latest data from the Passport Index.
The Passport Index gives countries mobility points for visa-free or visa-required travel destinations. The UAE scored 181 mobility points, the highest in the world.

Citizens of the United Arab Emirates can travel to 123 countries without a visa, 58 countries with a visa on arrival, and 17 countries with a visa in advance. With a global coverage of 91%, Emirates is considered the most dominant in the world.

The 9 places after the United Arab Emirates are largely dominated by European countries. After 2019, the UAE’s mobility score fell from 179 to 90 due to the pandemic. However, it rose after the easing of travel restrictions. It reached a mobility score of 170 in 2020, 160 in 2021, and 181 in 2022 and 2023.
At the bottom of the list are Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia, and Bangladesh.
