The United States sees Pakistan as an important ally when it comes to Afghanistan

The United States named Pakistan as an important partner on several fronts, adding that there are common interests when it comes to Afghanistan, peace, and stability in the region.

At a weekly press conference, State Department spokesman Ned Price said: “Pakistan and the United States have common interests when it comes to Afghanistan. Pakistan has been a helpful and constructive partner in relation to Afghanistan and our joint efforts to create a semblance of peace and security there,” said Ned.

“The United States has always encouraged Pakistan to be a constructive partner in Afghanistan is seeking to create a semblance of peace and security.”

The US Department also responded to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision to deny the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) bases in Pakistan.

“The interests of the two countries go far beyond the broader interests of the fight against terrorism and human relations. Afghanistan’s neighbors must play a constructive role in contributing to a lasting political solution, as well as a complete ceasefire,” he said.

For too long, some neighbors of the war-torn country have not played this role. Prime Minister Imran Khan had previously made it clear that he certainly would not allow US military bases in Pakistan.

“We will not authorize any base or action from Pakistani territory in Afghanistan. Absolutely not,” said the Prime Minister in an interview with HBO Axios.

Later, in his speech to the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said that “Pakistan will never compromise its sovereignty, adding that the country can never be a partner in conflict with the United States, only in peace.”
