The Middle East Receives The First Traditional Mandir in The UAE

Despite being a Muslim-majority country, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is expected to complete the construction of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) Santha Mandir in Abu Dhabi by February 2024.

The temple will serve the Hindu community in the United Arab Emirates and tourists from around the world. It is currently 55% complete and is now open to the public on Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm. When completed, it will be the first traditional stone mandir in the Middle East.

BAPS Sanstha is a Hindu socio-spiritual organization. He was born in the Indian state of Gujarat at the end of the 18th century.

The organization has built similar temples around the world, including in the United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), and India.

Inauguration of the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates previously inaugurated an interfaith structure called “The House of the Abrahamic Family” in Abu Dhabi. The building includes a mosque, a church, and a synagogue, each representing Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan commented that they are fully committed to showing respect, understanding, and diversity for future progress.

The integrative building highlights the similarities between the 3 Abrahamic religions and also houses a cultural center that promotes coexistence and respect.
