No examinations until June 15 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases: Shafqat Mehmood

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood announced Tuesday that all exams in the country would be postponed due to an increase in Covid-19 cases.

The Minister of Education, who together with SAPM on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, speaking to the media, said that the exams will now take place from June 15 and that the exams for levels O and A will now be conducted in the October to October cycle November.

However, the Minister of Education added that A2 exams will be held for those students who wish to apply to foreign universities for the purpose of applying.

The decision is made following widespread calls to postpone the current exam cycle in the country.

The minister added that there has been a rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in the country since the last meeting on the issue on April 18.

We will continue to analyze the situation and in mid-May or later in the month we will analyze the disease and make a decision to either postpone the trials or allow them to take place,” Mahmood said, adding that the trials may be postponed further .

Cambridge exams

Earlier, the Education Minister had stated that students could postpone their next Cambridge exams from May to June and switch to the October to November cycle for the same fee previously paid.

He added that schools can request exemptions if they believe the candidates were unable to complete the study program for some reason.
