How To Become A Tourist Guide in Dubai?
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) licenses tourist guides who wish to work part-time or full-time in the emirate.
Those who choose to work part-time should note that UAE labor law allows part-time work if the number of hours is less than 20 hours per week. If you are considering a career as a full-time tour guide, DET offers an online training program that you must complete.
Tourist Guide Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Online Tour Guide Training Program, the candidate must:
- Be over 18 years old.
- Have graduated from high school.
- Have good communication skills in English.
- Have first aid certificate in UAE.
- Have a Certificate of No Objection (NOC) from the sponsor.
Required Documents
- A valid copy of the Emirates ID card.
- Passport photo with white background.
- First Aid Training Certificate.
- Valid Dubai Police Clearance Clearance.
- Academic certificate from the 12th grade or higher (international certificates and certificates from all schools/private universities must be certified).
- Sponsor’s NOC for non-Emirati citizens.
- English certificate from an accredited language center in the United Arab Emirates (the minimum required score is “Upper Intermediate”).
The applicant will be notified of the document’s approval status and if rejected, the documents will need to be re-uploaded for review, which can take up to 48 hours.
How To Register Online For Tourist Guide in Dubai
- Visit www.tourguidetraining.ae and click “Create New Account” to enter your personal information.
- Look for an activation link in your email and use it to log in to the site.
- Upload all required documents in a single PDF file.
- After getting the verification, return to the website and click on “Dubai Tour Guide Program (DTGP)”.
- Complete all four phases of the program within 90 days and pay in installments after each phase.
- Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive your tour guide license.
Program Fees
The total fee for the tour guide program is AED 7,520.
