Who is Bailee Marie Gattis? Biography, Wiki

Bailee Marie Gattis of Tishomingo, Mississippi, USA, was discharged by doctors after suffering from primary amenorrhea, the absence of menstrual bleeding.

Gattis was born without a uterus and was told by doctors that she was “a late bloomer.”

Bailee Marie Gattis’s Age

Her current age is 16 years.

Girl Born With No Womb

Bailee Marie Gattis, from Tishomingo, Mississippi, USA, went to the doctor at the age of 15 after suffering from primary amenorrhea, the absence of menstrual bleeding. She had also noticed that she had a shortened vaginal canal and even hid it from her mother.

After dozens of blood tests, the doctor told Bailee that she was a “late developer.” They advised her to come back at 16 if she hadn’t started her cycle.

When Bailee’s primary amenorrhea persisted past age 16, she underwent an ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI. After further blood tests confirmed Bailee was biologically female and not a hermaphrodite, she was diagnosed with a rare condition called Mayer-Rokitansky-Kester-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome.

People with MRKH have “normal” external genitalia but may have an underdeveloped or absent uterus or vagina.”

What Was Her Parent’s Statement?

“In March 2021, I went to a doctor’s appointment because I was about to turn 15 and hadn’t gotten my period yet,” Bailee said.

“I knew at the time that my vaginal canal was shortened, but I didn’t know much about it and I was too embarrassed to tell my mom or anyone else.”

“At that appointment, my doctor checked all of my hormones through blood tests and they were all normal. Only a ‘late development’ was declared.”

“They also asked me to come back a year later when I was 16 and if I still didn’t have my period we would proceed with further testing.”

“From there I had an ultrasound, a CT scan, and an MRI. The first ultrasound showed an unknown small soft structure, which at the time was thought to be a rudimentary uterus.”

“That was the most exciting part of everything for me,” Bailee said.

“I came back three months later to check my progress. On the second visit, he told me I was fine and asked me to come back six months later.”

“But as excited as I was to start dilating, it was one of the most mentally taxing things I’ve ever done.”

“Bailee was prescribed antidepressants as she struggled with the news and the new regime.”

“My mental journey with him has been a bumpy road,” Bailee said.

“My diagnosis made me feel like I would never have a family. I started doing more activities to distract myself and pretend it didn’t happen.”

“I had a puppy, I always went out with my friends, and I always hid my condition.”

“It was the worst thing I could have done. Once I accepted my MRKH and went public, a whole new world opened up to me. In the future, I would like to have a surrogate baby.”
