Restaurants and Schools have Closed when the Federal Govt. Announced New COVID restrictions

Pakistan Army will be on the roads to enforce the COVID-19 SOPs in the country in the wake of rising virus cases, said federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Friday.

Asad Umar shared the details after Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the National Command Authority to review the situation in the wake of this COVID restriction in the country.

“The Pakistani army will be on the move assisting rangers and police in enforcing standard operating procedures related to the virus,” he said while sharing details with the media.

Asad Umar shared an alarming situation, saying the country had already used 90 percent of its available oxygen reserves. However, he said steps were being taken to improve oxygen supplies.

The NCOC chief said the country is seeing an increase in COVID cases and plans to introduce more travel restrictions from overseas. “Effective tests are also being carried out on travelers from abroad,” he said.

Umar said restaurants will remain closed until Eid, with a complete ban on indoor and outdoor dining.

The Minister announced that “We have restricted attendance in offices to 50 percent with duty hours further restricted to 2:00 pm,” he said, adding that the business centers will be closed by 6:00 pm.

Shopping is only allowed in the morning,” he said, urging citizens not to wait for Eid purchases for the last three to five days.

He also said that all schools in areas with a positivity rate of five percent will remain closed.
