Apple’s WWDC 2021 announces big iOS, iPadOS and macOS updates, release date and features

Apple’s WWDC 2021 event kicked off last night and brought a wealth of information about all of your favorite (or not-so-popular) Apple products.

With so much news, we’ve helped you narrow things down to the most interesting details.

For iPhone owners, there is an exciting announcement that iOS 15 is on the way and is expected to be released for everyone in September 2021. If you own one of the best smartphones out there, you’ll appreciate that iOS updates of this type are rarely disappointing.

According to Apple, some major improvements will be on the way. This includes new functions for FaceTime with the focus on making the service more convenient and realistic. Expect spatial audio so that the receiver is more in the same room as you, speech isolation that focuses only on your voice and blocks out ambient noise, and a wide spectrum that means it can focus on you and the surrounding area.

Arguably the best of them all is SharePlay, where you can share music, TV shows, and movies, as well as your screen through the service with companies like Disney Plus, Twitch, and ESPN who already support the new feature.

There are also updates to messages with improved group chats, new status options similar to what WhatsApp already offers, and improved do not disturb modes. You can also use the Apple Wallet for IDs like driver’s licenses, and there are general improvements for almost everything else in iOS.

Are you worried about losing your iPad?

Do not worry! It’s not for nothing that iPads are always at the top of our list of the best tablets – they are regularly supported.

The widgets are improved here and you can now enjoy an app library as you did in iOS 14, which allows you to easily see all of your apps on a separate screen, just like the Android app drawer.

Multitasking has been improved for iPads, and you can drag and drop your work between your iPad and Mac with almost no hassle.

In this sense, the best home computers and best laptops with macOS 12, known as Monterey, which will also be launched later this year, will not be lost.

In addition to the universal control feature that lets you switch seamlessly between your iPad and MacBook, the FaceTime enhancements mentioned above will appear along with the shortcuts on your desktop.

If you’ve used Shortcuts on your iPhone before, you know how easy it is to automate daily tasks through the app, and it’s sure to be a real-time saver for avid Mac users. Also, look for a redesigned Safari that we suspect will be another competitor in the battle for the best web browsers.

As always, all of these updates will be completely free for Apple users, so expect a superior experience later this year. September is the earliest month we can expect iOS 15 and the latest iPadOS, with new versions generally coinciding with new hardware revisions.
