Taxi Prices in Dubai Fall Below AED 2 Per Km As Fuel Prices Fall in The UAE

Dubai has announced a reduction in taxi fares effective immediately after fuel prices fell in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The minimum fare in the city is now 22 fils lower and the cost per kilometer has dropped from AED 2.19 to AED 1.97.

As reported by the Khaleej Times, Adel Shakri, director of planning and business development at the Highways and Transport Authority (RTA), said the drop was in response to the recent drop in fuel prices and part of a drive to be more transparent to customers. This change applies to all types of taxis, including sedans.

The UAE has significantly reduced retail fuel prices by January 2023: Super 98 costs 15.7% less at AED 2.78 per liter, Super 95 costs 16% less at AED 2.67 per liter and E-Plus costs 16.7 % less at AED2.59 per liter and leads a second reduction in Dubai taxi fares in the last 4 months.

Other cities in the United Arab Emirates, such as Sharjah and Ajman, have also recently announced reductions in their minimum taxi fares for the same reason.
