According to the Highways and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai’s roads are in exceptional condition, with a road surface condition index of 95%.
95% of Dubai Roads Are in Excellent Condition
The RTA Roads and Traffic Agency used high-tech laser equipment to inspect the condition of the city’s roads and sidewalks.
The results showed that 48 major highways and roads and 34 inner-city residential roads were in excellent condition, with only 60 km of roads requiring maintenance.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance, Highways, and Traffic Agency, RTA, said the aim of the assessment is to assess the roads’ structural capacity and determine their remaining life cycle.
He added that road maintenance has a positive impact on traffic and safety, as 95% of the arteries are still in good condition. Bridge and tunnel construction in Dubai also scored very well with 97%. The bridges and tunnels were examined according to international standards.
