Pakistan received its first batch of 1.2 million doses of COVID-19 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine through the COVAX program on May 8.
Now government sources have confirmed that the second shipment of the same number of doses will arrive in Pakistan next month.
Health Department sources confirmed they had received the information about the arrival of the second shipment of the AstraZeneca vaccine in June.

“The exact date will be communicated to the authorities shortly,” they said.
The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan said on Sunday that the AstraZeneca vaccine is only given to people over 40 years of age, according to the practice of many countries.

In a Twitter message, SAPM welcomed the collaboration of the COVAX facility and all global partners, including WHO, UNICEF, and others, in delivering 1.2 million doses of vaccines to Pakistan under the program. COVAX.

“1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford have been received and 1.2 million are expected to soon complement government-purchased vaccines,” he said in a tweet.
