China And Pakistan Are Working Together On Four Oil And Gas Projects Under CPEC

China and Pakistan will work together on four major oil and gas projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

These projects include the completion of a feasibility report for the South-North Gas Pipeline project by the Power China International Group and enhancing Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL).

The decision was made recently at a meeting. At the meeting, it was agreed to work on the following projects in the first phase:

  • Completion of the feasibility study for the South-North Gas Pipeline project.
  • Enhancing the refinery in Pakistan, Karachi.
  • Coal to Liquid Engineering plant in Thar.
  • Feasibility study on coal gasification.

The two sides agreed to prepare the “Pakistan Oil and Gas Industry Development Plan Report“, which focuses on oil and gas exploration and the petrochemical refinery.

The two countries also agreed on a development plan for the timely development of projects under the CPEC.

It was decided that interested parties should be invited to carry out feasibility studies and submit them to the next group of energy planning experts for consideration.

Experts from both countries agreed that projects subject to the recommendations of the Expert Group and the Joint Working Group on Energy will be subject to a feasibility study before being formally implemented.
